Digital Leeum

Digital Guide

Get closer to works of art at Leeum with the Digital Guide, a docent in your hand.

The Digital Guide Desk is located on the right side of the Information Desk.
Audiovisual explanation of an artwork is provided along with high-definition images when the work is detected by the device during the tour.
You can also enlarge images of an artwork to observe to details. see the detail of the work.

360-degree-rotation-functions Full three-dimensional views are available provided for the selected some ceramic works. Images can be rotated to show the back of the work, which is not visible from the conventional museum display setting. while enlarging them.

Employing the Page-turning functions are equipped for manuscripts and books of paintings., you can turn the pages by swiping your finger on the screen to read inside the pages also see works that are not on display.

AR (Augmented Reality) functions are to translate traditional Chinese characters on a painting into the Korean language.

Utilizing Download Images function, you can save the pictures of museum architecture to your own smart phone. You can download images provided by the museum to your smart phone through Download Images.

When you are finished with the tour, you can review the list of works you have looked during the tour by selecting Replay Works function.
You can also revisit works after the tour through Replay Works, which shows the list of artworks viewed by the user.

The Digital Guide provides high-resolution images and information for all the works of art at permanent and special exhibitions. As you approach a work of art, the devise automatically recognizes and explains each of the work on display. In addition, you can experience extended functions such as 360-degree rotation function, AR(augmented reality), and page-turning function. With Leeum’s Digital Guide, a helpful guide for your understanding of the exhibition and the collection, you can enjoy the your museum visit in a more interactive and pleasant way. The Digital Guide is offered in four different languages; Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese. All patrons above the age of elementary school may rent the devise.

Leeum’s Digital Guide is produced through the close cooperation with Samsung Electronics based on the hardware of Galaxy Note II, which is optimized for viewing at the museum.

Leeum DID (Digital Interactive Display)

Art meets digital.
Leeum introduces a new method of exhibition presentation.

It provides high magnification zoom as well as 360 degree rotaion.

In Korean traditional art, there are many works of art with characteristics of splendor and precision. The beauty of such works is particularly noticeable in traditional handicrafts made from a variety of precious metals, as well as traditional painting techniques, which are prized for their delicate and subtle expression. The Leeum digital magnifying glass is manufactured with a high-resolution display of Samsung and digital interactive solution of Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art. With its high power magnifying function, small details of artifacts invisible to the naked eye can be observed vividly, and the 360-degree rotation offers a valuable opportunity to view and appreciate otherwise unnoticeable aspects of the work.

Public Transportations

From Hangangjin Station (Subway Line 6) Exit 1, walk straight for 100m towards Itaewon. Make a right turn at the first intersection and alley, walk up the hill for about 5 minutes.

Cautions

Public transportation is highly recommended due to limited parking space.
